Republicans from all precincts in Douglas County will caucus on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Alexandria Area High School.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive as early as 6:30PM.
The proceedings with commence at 7:00 PM sharp in the Performing Arts Center Auditorium.
Republicans attending the caucuses will: (1) Elect precinct officers; (2) Elect delegates and alternates from their respective precincts to the Douglas County Republican Convention and Legislative District Endorsing Conventions; (3) Vote in a statewide Republican Presidential Preference Ballot; (4) Present, discuss and act on resolutions; and (5) Transact such other business as may properly come before the caucuses.
Results of the Presidential Preference Poll will, for the first time, proportionately bind Minnesota’s 38 delegates to the Republican National Convention on that convention’s first ballot. Three delegates are elected at each of the eight congressional district conventions, and eleven are elected at the state convention. The state party chair, as well as the national committeeman and committeewoman are also accorded delegate status. The 2016 Republican National Convention will be held in July in Cleveland, Ohio.
