Local Republicans Blast Dayton’s Budget:

Representative Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, was also disappointed that Dayton didn’t propose any new funding for nursing homes.

“Protecting the quality of life for our parents and grandparents should be a priority,” she said.

Franson also opposes Dayton’s transportation plan, which includes $2.8 billion dollars for Twin Cities’ transit projects, a 6.5 percent increase in the state’s gas tax and an increase in license tab fees.

“Now is not the time to increase the state’s gas tax as we are finally starting to see some relief at the pump as gas prices have fallen,” she said.
